I Also known as emergency elevators, firefighter elevators are installed to ensure the safe and easy transport of fire-fighting teams and their equipment, according to the EN 81-72 standard (Lifts – Safety rules for the construction and installation). In buildings with a height exceeding 30.50 m or a construction height exceeding 51.50 m, at least one firefighter elevator is required. Firefighter elevators have additional details that require extra attention compared to other elevators:

  • Must comply with EN 81-72 Firefighter Elevator standards,
  • Directly illuminated sheet metal cabin ceiling,
  • IP 54 protection class for lighting fixtures,
  • IP 54 class contacts,
  • Cabin interior exit hatch and ladder,
  • Exterior cabin exit ladder, Electrostatic painted sheet metal cabin walls, Aluminum chequer plate floor covering, Cabin area must be at least 1.82 m², with a minimum load capacity of 750 kg,
  • Floor and cabin doors must be made of fire-resistant materials with a minimum of 60 minutes fire resistance and dimensions not smaller than 900×2000 mm.
